DTS100S is a compact Z-axis contact tool setter for automated tool length measurement, offset setting and tool checks on CNC machining centers. Mounted at a fixed position, its tungsten carbide contact pad detects a cutting tool approaching in the +Z triggering direction and sends a signal to a compatible CNC control input.

The DTS100S has specified repeatability below 1 μm (2σ) at a probing speed of 50 mm/min. It uses a normally closed (NC) output and a 5 m oil-resistant, six-core cable. Its Ø10 mm contact pad, IP68 sealing and flexible protective conduit suit appropriately configured machining environments. The illustrated model also features a bellows-style cover around the sensing element.

With suitable measurement macros, the DTS100S can support programmed tool length setting, offset verification and basic tool breakage checks. Qidu provides assistance with product selection, wiring, mounting, calibration and controller integration. Confirm available machine clearance and connection requirements before ordering.

  • What is the DTS100S CNC tool setter used for?

The DTS100S is a Z-axis contact tool setter designed for automatic tool length measurement and tool offset setting on CNC machining centers. When integrated with suitable CNC measurement macros, it can also support tool length verification and basic tool breakage checks.

  • What is the repeatability of the DTS100S tool setter?

The DTS100S provides specified repeatability below 1 μm (2σ) at a probing speed of 50 mm/min. This value describes measurement consistency under defined test conditions rather than absolute measurement accuracy.

  • What is the difference between DTS100S and DTS100?

Both models are Z-axis contact tool setters with a 10 mm tungsten carbide contact pad, normally closed output and specified repeatability below 1 μm (2σ) at 50 mm/min.
The DTS100S has a bellows-style sensing element cover, whereas the DTS100 photographs show a different contact assembly design. Their dimensional drawings also differ, so mounting requirements should be checked separately.

  • Can the DTS100S measure tool diameter?

The DTS100S is specified for +Z triggering and is primarily intended for tool length measurement. It should not be presented as a 3D tool setter capable of direct lateral X/Y contact measurement.
For applications requiring tool length and diameter measurement, Qidu provides three-directional tool-setting systems such as the DMTS-L and DMTS-R.

  • How does the DTS100S connect to a CNC machine?

The DTS100S uses a six-core wired connection with a normally closed (NC) contact output. Its specified electrical contact rating is DC 24 V at a maximum current of 20 mA for a resistive load, with 10 mA recommended. The input interface and wiring should be verified for the specific CNC controller.

  • Can the DTS100S detect broken cutting tools?

Yes, with appropriate measurement programs. A tool length check can compare the measured value against an expected value, helping detect significant length changes caused by tool breakage. Actual detection capability depends on the tool geometry, measuring routine and configured tolerances.

  • What is the contact pad material of the DTS100S?

The DTS100S uses a tungsten carbide contact pad with a specified diameter of 10 mm. Tungsten carbide provides hardness and wear resistance for repeated contact measurements.

  • Does the DTS100S support air cleaning?

The supplied product photographs show an air nozzle and pneumatic connection. However, the technical specification does not establish the air pressure requirement or whether all pneumatic accessories are included as standard. These details should be confirmed for the ordered configuration.

  • Is the DTS100S compatible with FANUC and Siemens controllers?

Qidu provides integration support for CNC controller platforms including FANUC and Siemens. Compatibility with a specific machine requires confirmation of the controller input signals, NC output configuration, available measurement macros and installation conditions.
