DNC56 is a non-contact laser tool setter designed for automated cutting tool measurement on CNC machining centers. A laser beam passes between opposing transmitter and receiver units. When a tool interrupts the beam, suitable CNC measuring cycles can process the signal to determine tool dimensions or identify a broken tool.

The DNC56 supports tool diameters from 0.06 to 50 mm and specifies repeatability below 1 μm (2σ). Its 680 nm laser has a stated output below 1 mW. An adjustable mounting base helps align the beam during installation, while a 6 mm pneumatic connection accommodates an air supply within the specified 43–87 psi range.

The unit operates from a 24 V DC supply and uses an 8 m oil-resistant, shielded eight-core cable. Its aluminum housing has an IP68 sealing rating. Qidu provides guidance for mounting, electrical interfaces, CNC measurement macros and commissioning. Machine clearance, probing cycles and signal requirements should be verified before installation.
